TX012 belongs to a family of quiet earth paintings made for rooms that already have material: plaster, oak, linen, stone. Colour is mixed slowly — clay against greige, a dry ochre that appears only in raking light — then laid in layers that are allowed to sit uneven. The painting is not a view of a landscape. It is a field, closer to a worn wall than to a picture of one. In a living room it should recede until someone is close enough to see the tooth of the linen.

TX012 is composed as a wide rectangle. The listed sizes keep the same proportion. Leave about 15 cm of wall around the canvas, and hang the centre near eye line on a seating wall. Other sizes are a commission, not a crop of this image.

Wabi-sabi as a way of leaving the surface unfinished in the right places: a scuff of pigment, a quieter corner, the sense that the painting has already lived with the room. The studio looked at limewash, dried river clay, and late-afternoon light on untreated plaster.

100 × 80 cm is the designed proportion for a sofa wall. 80 × 60 cm suits a narrower bay or bedroom. 140 × 100 cm needs a clear wall with space around the canvas. If the wall is a different ratio, commission rather than stretching this composition.
